I saw the news about this person and did not bother to share it. They can not put names to all the children slaughtered but they can talk about this one Israeli with PTSD. The reservist was injured recently and suffering from PTSD after - what his family says - going through hell in the Gaza strip. The Israeli military has refused to honour the dead reservist, saying he died when he was off duty.
I do not know the reasons why he did not want to go back, remorse or fear for his life. However, I do know that just like USA these people are indoctrinated from birth. No child deserves to be brainwashed from birth. It is child abuse.

On "Antiques Roadshow " I was touched by the personal story : an artifact brought in by the( now) elderly grandson of a WW1 British fighter pilot; the water colour done over lamplight, with an extraordinary curved tabletop, in a mess-tent, during a break in battle ; the youthful male beauty ... There is also a wartime diary and a written entry by the painting's subject ; something like "today had my portrait done". Apparantly the artist was a captured German soldier - who had been captured by this allied battalion ; the rest of the British squad who'd captured the young German soldier had been preparing to summarily end his life; but been disuaded by this young soldier (the subject of the portrait) to spare the young German soldier's life . The grandson shows us photos of the two men throughout their subsequent lives ; they kept in touch over 68 years and the young German soldier and artist never forgot the "enemy" soldier's moral compassion and individual act of exceptional empathy
