Is there really any doubt that (my fellow) Americans are the most propagandized -- and most propagandizable -- people in the world? To passively put up with, ignore for the most part, the massive crimes of this empire!

Indeed....hearing the supporters of both Harris and Trump talk....it's clear how heavily they've been propagandized and misinformed.

And it's scary because they're electing a leader of the most powerful country in the world!

The depth of absurdity demonstrated by what the educationally challenged like to call "Politics" in the 'United States of Amnesia', to quote Gore Vidal, never ceases to amaze?

A whole nation of people in the grip of Mass Psychosis living in the "Wish Arch" desperately WANTING to believe the opposite of something so self-evident that one would have had to have been living in "Plato's Cave" one's whole life being mesmerised by the shadows, to believe it?

It shows that if you condition and propagandize a society long and relentlessly enough, they'll have all sort of irrational and false-based opinions. It really makes you think about the dangerous effects of having a democracy with a highly unaware and brainwashed population!

And THAT is what happened in Israel

Indeed....that's a scary, disturbing real-life example.

Thanks for borrowing my riff on that POV. If Trump wins this will be the worst catastrophe that’s ever befallen our country.

Expand full comment

"If Trump wins", or Harris wins, "this will be the worst catastrophe that has befallen our country"?

Not withstanding the genocide and ethnic cleansing of more than 20 million indigenous men, women and children, the bones upon which, "our country" was constructed, right?

Expand full comment

I don't really go along with this "America is an evil country based on what we did a long time ago" thing. I care about what we do now.

Expand full comment

If you say things like "the worst thing that's ever happened to this country" you are explicitly talking about history. Maybe what you meant was the worst thing that happened to you. Because that's all you care about

Expand full comment

That's over and done with long ago. It's not relevant to my life. It will be the worst catastrophe in my lifetime. I consider the loss of democracy to be worse from my POV than the American Indian genocide, almost all of whom died of disease. A lot of bad stuff happened in the old days.

Expand full comment

"loss of 'democracy'"? When was the United States of Hypocrisy ever a democracy? This is a delusion, you are convincing yourself of something you would like to be the case, not what is the case? Living, like most deluded Americans in their own "Jonestown Bubble" drinking the latest flavor of the available Kool-Aid?

As for the "American Indian genocide, almost all died of disease", I'm sure that makes you feel a hell of a lot better about being part of that moral repugnance? Just an aside, ever heard of "Smallpox Blankets“, or "The Trail of Tears", or even..."Wounded Knee"?

The genocide and ethnic cleansing taking place now, today, IS because of the impunity felt by those who committed the same 'Crimes Against Humanity' they committed in the past. This is why those who committed those crimes need to be forced to see their moral turpitude for what it is.

Ok you say we never had any democracy. Well whatever we had is about to go kaput. We do have an electoral democracy. People vote for their leaders. There are problems, sure. The leaders don't rule in the interests of the people. The rule for their donors.

Also Trump is a fascist and he's advocating a dictatorship. Harris is not.

There were no smallpox blankets. It's all bullshit.

Yes many died on the Trail of Tears. Ok?

Yes Wounded Knee was a massacre. I'm not sure how many died though. It's also not what it was made out to be.

In the Indian Wars, the Indians killed 10,000 Whites and the Whites killed 7,000 Indians. I assume that includes the massacre.

"The genocide and ethnic cleansing taking place now, today, IS because of the impunity felt by those who committed the same 'Crimes Against Humanity' they committed in the past."

I thought Americans had confronted that.

e same 'Crimes Against Humanity' they committed in the past. This is why those who committed those crimes need to be forced to see their moral turpitude for what it is.

I thought we had taken responsibility for it.

I’m afraid your reading of history is rather tendentious?

Maybe you need to take off your “Rose Tinted Spectales”?

Smallpox blankets were blankets or linens that were intentionally contaminated with the smallpox virus and given to Native Americans by British colonists in 18th century America. The blankets were used as a biological weapon to start outbreaks among Native American tribes, and the tactic was sanctioned by British officers.

Here are some details about the use of smallpox blankets:

First use

The first well-documented use of smallpox blankets was in 1763, when Captain Simeon Ecuyer of the Royal Americans gave two blankets and a handkerchief infected with smallpox to Native Americans besieging Fort Pitt.

Commander in chief

Sir Jeffrey Amherst, the commander in chief of British forces in North America at the time, sanctioned the use of smallpox blankets.

Impact

The smallpox blankets caused an epidemic that killed more than half of the infected tribes.

Legacy

The use of smallpox blankets left a legacy of trauma and distrust in Native American communities that continues to this day.

I’ll let you deal with this point first?

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of smallpox as a biological weapon decreased after the development of a vaccine in 1796. The last documented case of smallpox in the US was in 1949.

These people are condemning us as irremediably evil for what happened ages ok and there's no way to make amends for it. No one supports the American Indian genocide anymore. Everyone feels bad about it. Same with slavery.

Expand full comment

It would appear that, "Everyone feels bad about it" but not badly enough to let it happen again in Palestine, right? Not bad enough to let it affect the United States of Hypocrisy's "bottomline", right? Not bad enough to affect the "grocery bills", right?

US culture, it's very ethos, is putrid? It is because they want us to forget their genocide, ethnic cleansing, their mass murder, their 200+ years of war, and their ethos built on the making, selling and using of Arms, and its Military Industrial dependence.

The people of the US have forgotten the true meaning of "remorse", the usefulness of "guilt"? That is why Gore Vidal called it "The United States of Amnesia", he said they, "forget what happened yesterday"? Why... because they would have to admit their paralysing culpability for all their wicked self-serving, narcissistic, actions where they are responsible for the butchery and death of millions of innocents globally for so long?

I too condemn the 'US of Amnesia' for its evil, and all those who support its 'Alice-in-Wonderland' continuation being played out in this very 'democratic' election!!

"...It’s not exactly subtle, if you ask me, but we are living through a time of rapidly falling IQ levels...:"

Quite right. A lot of it has to do with the success of the empire in utilizing the internet to not only corrode minds, but collect data on how best to propagandandize and manipulate people. There is a good amount in the public domain about how this is done, one example being the Cambridge Analytica :

Technology, Autonomy, and Manipulation

22 Pages Posted: 17 Jul 2019

https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3420747

On top of that, under the guise of "preventing hostile foreign actors" from manipulating people, the US empire lay out a cook book for how they can manipulate people and manufacture consent for their agenda:

Hostile Social Manipulation: Present Realities and Emerging Trends

As you read the above, bear in mind that while RAND presents itself to the public as a "think tank", what it is is an arms length forum where the pentagon and the spooks assemble academics to do research for them on physical and psychological warfare. As academics should not be doing such things, often the vehicle the use to cloak this for acadamic acceptability, is 1) do it under the umbrella of this "think tank" and 2) use scenarios of modelling what "adversaries would do" as a strawman for assembling a compreheisve list of methods that they can pick from to implement.

The southern border is locked down and the wall is being built. There are blimps monitoring the Canadian border. Cop cites, 26, are being built nationwide with the cops being trained by the IDF. The intel agencies knew the insurrection was going to happen and did fuck all to stop it. Trump and his Christofascist cronies have been allowed to spread the big lie and incite the white supremacists for 4 years. The security state is being ramped up because they know the violence they have been stoking is coming. We've been caged in and the vast majority of people don't even realize it. It's so crazy to think that somehow there is a difference between the Democrats and the Republicans.

However, most Americans don't care about Palistine.

The genocide will continue.

Why?

Because "We must save Israel !!"

No one even mentions the Palestinians or Lebanese or Yemenis or Syrians or Ukrainians, etc. etc. anymore because the plight of the Corporate US/Israeli victims have been practically dropped from the MSM. A truly dark time.

The power of propaganda is terrifying. For those of you who don’t know, it is a huge operation in the west. Huge.

The Trump clown car vs the merciless ‘liberals’.

The Trumpers will say literally anything, one word from Joe Biden and they run around for a week proudly proclaiming “I’m garbage!”. The other side won’t say anything about anything except the four subjects they are allowed to speak about. A worldview based on avoiding bad words and virtue signalling but always crossing the street to avoid the person in need.

I think Stockholm Syndrome is an under reported phenomena

From "The Most Dangerous Superstition" by Larken Rose:

"Anyone who votes, regardless of the candidate, or even verbally supports some “policy” or “program” of the “government”, is condoning the initiation of violence against his neighbors, even if he does not recognize it as such. (p.101)

Political elections are not about togetherness, unity or tolerance; they are about arguing over how everyone should be forced to behave and what everyone should be forced to financially support, via the control machine called “government”. (p.104)

The abundance of campaign signs littering lawns prior to every election are not the sign of an enlightened, free society. They are the sign of a mentally and physically enslaved society, bickering over which slave master they want holding the whip. (p.104)

The goal of every voter is always to use the mechanism of “government” to coerce other people into making certain choices, funding certain things, and behaving in certain ways."

and

"As long as the people believe in the myth of “authority”, every downfall of one tyrant will be followed by the creation and growth of a new tyrant." (p.130)

why?

"Once someone has been given the reins of power, and with them the supposed right to rule, there is little likelihood that he will choose not to use that power. (p.46)

The reason is that once someone truly believes that he has the right to rule (even if only in a “limited” manner), he will not view or treat others as equals but as subjects.

Whatever noble intentions he may have had to begin with, what he will actually end up doing is using violence, and the threat of violence, to impose his will upon others – he will become a tyrant."

To me this all means that both parties are 2 sides of the same coin, will continue the tyranny at home and abroad, and will inflict on the rest of the world the same depraved policies. Until, of course, the empire is no more.
