Sad story. Depressing but not surprising. Virtually the entire structure of the West has been bought, bullied and successfully intimidated. Frankly, I think going public and informing all muslim employees is a good idea--and not just muslims, there are other anti-genocide people out there too. Will at least make the bastards squirm. Hell you might even consider getting the support of pro Palestine organizations and demonstrating in front of the building and handing out press releases. Good luck. Palestine will be free!

Be assured, every decent human being of every colour, nationality and religion is shocked and horrified by the israeli atrocities, and want it to stop, want justice for Palestinians - and now Lebanese - and want an end to israel’s impunity, want to see israel brought to accoint for these crimes. I'm not in your position as a foreigner with little money and needing a job and a visa, so perhaps I cannot even say this, but the people you were working for are so far beneath you - a man of your integrity, compassion and intelligence doesn't belong with people like that. I deeply hope you have friends to help you and enough money comes in through ko-fi and you can possibly find something better for income. I think there are many many people in these times who have paid a high price for speaking the truth as you have been doing week after week. I think of the US University students whose only option of returning this year was silence and to compromise themselves. They are very powerful people and worker protection in this country is very sketchy which made me think that a lawsuit might not be the best route to take. Yeah, my heart was in the mouth in the expectation they found this Substack, but God had other plans. The HR9495 is extremely scary. They are going to make life hell for anyone not abiding by the government-imposed orthodoxy.
Indeed, I marvel at the people of Palestine Action. They have literally put their bodies and lives on the line to stop this genocide. I applaud the people all over the world who have faced police brutality for speaking the truth and standing for justice. No words can convey the feelings I have for the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank who are facing this monstrous crime. And the Lebanese, the Yemenis, the Iraqis, and the Syrians for their attempts at stopping this barbarism and facing extreme violence as a result. Seen in that light, I have suffered nothing. I have food to eat, a roof over my head, and family and friends with all their limbs intact. I can sleep safe in the knowledge that no bomb will drop the roof over my head overnight. I am immensely privileged despite everything.

But - at the very least - it is essential that they know the world sees and has not forgotten them. I totally agree about the lawsuit. Even if you could afford that long underworld journey, financially and psychologically, to confront these people who have been sucked into the world of Power would be a nightmare and they would get even and shut your voice down further and without doubt find this vehicle. The fact is that all of us who support the Palestinian people have become targets. I’m an old retired man living on a pension for which I am very grateful so I can’t be sacked. I have supported freedom for Palestine for 55 years but now like so many others my support and opinions are visible. There are very powerful AI systems now being employed to sift through social media accounts to identify anyone who the powers that be consider to be a threat to what has become the status quo. It is no longer a conspiracy theory that the Big Brother state is alive and well and firmly entrenched in our society. I fear for our future no matter where we may be.
The powerful have near complete access to pretty much all of our activities and as more people awaken from this totalitarian nightmare, the more the governments will become repressive. The future is indeed very scary.
The current disproportionate use and abuse of the UK’s terrorism act to harass and intimidate journalists and activists is a case in point. It seems obvious that we are all in the firing line. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been accused of being antisemitic simply because I disapprove of the wholesale slaughter of innocent men,women and children. Given that I voiced the same criticism of what was done during the illegal Iraq war which was clearly perpetrated by majority Caucasian powers this is transparently absolute nonsense.

One of my friends who works for an international human rights org (and is married to a Palestinian) suddenly received death threats and demands to be fired after a screenshot was posted online from a zoom call she was a part of. Where they had circled that famous Franz Krausz "Visit Palestine" poster on her wall. Fortunately her superiors stood by her and she kept her job.
To circle a poster taken from the screenshot of the background of a Zoom call and then demand someone's sacking on that basis is another level of scary. They really will go any length to suppress pro-Palestine voices. Thank God it didn't cost her the job.
It was good that you lasted 5 month because you got 5 months extra pay, but if it was me, i would of never signed the first or any letter that defended Zionism.
The salary was the only good thing to come out of this. I wouldn't defend Zionism either, at ANY cost. The letter didn't defend Zionism, it simply stated terms of the notice period. The other letter mentioned the books on the laptop. No defence of Zionism in any shape or form. Even that word didn't come up.

It’s disgusting to read how an employer can treat you like this, while happily engaging with Israeli war criminals. And their deepest concern was not that a genocide is going on, but rather whether the visiting war criminals would see the horror being described as genocide.
