I think the desire to retain your comfortable place in society is very strong. I see it in my friends, all like myself, in their early 70’s. They don’t want to even consider issues like homelessness, access to healthcare (causing an estimated 70,000 deaths each year), and certainly not anything beyond our (US) borders like Gaza. They aren’t bad people. They don’t lie or steal and would be happy to have these uncomfortable issues resolved, magically, by someone else as long as they don’t have to think about it or even discuss it. It is vitally important, and I believe it lies at the root of where we have reached as a species. If we have to decondition ourselves and go back to being fully humans, this has to be the first thing to be attacked and dismantled.
All valid points again, but I would argue it’s not just right-wing activism. There are also a lot of loony left-wing ideas that gain a lot of traction and have a dedicated following on the same platforms.
I have been thinking about a project of deconstructing the aspect of social conditioning, how we have become what we have, and where it will lead us. Hoping to find enough time to pursue it more deeply.

Not all of us possess the power to physically stop this atrocity, but we do have our voices to make people aware of what’s happening. A lot of people are apathetic simply because they aren’t aware. It’s our duty to use whatever means we have to speak for the oppressed, to shine a light on barbarity. It’s the least we can do as people of conscience.
