Every escalation by the Israeli regime, be it in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen or Palestine itself is in the end a sign of growing desperation. Their economy is tanking, settlers are leaving and even through over a year of relentless genocide, they couldn't break the resistance in Gaza completely.

That doesn't mean it will be over soon, but the fascist derangement is a sign of a doom spiral, that will lead to liberation in the long-term. Victorious settler colonies are the exceptions of history, not the rule.

Settlers are leaving? It's general Israeli citizens leaving, not Jewish Settlers!

I don't use settlers in that sense. Every Jewish Israeli citizen is a settler, in the sense of their class position, since the colonial state puts them in that position legally, practically and informally.

In the same sense, white Americans are settlers, Afrikaners in South Africa are settlers and white Australians are settlers. It isn't a historical category, it is a material category.

Yes, but the term “Settlers” in Israel now specifically refers to Jewish Settlers illegally “settling” on legal Palestinian land

Eerily, sadly, infuriatingly, these murderous land grabs are likely to continue. Who/how will we stop it?

'All these developments in the Middle East point towards a sizable escalation, which will engulf huge swathes of land and millions of people.'

Scary prospects, indeed! In times like this, Yemen, Lebanon, Iran and their Middle Eastern allies need to support each other, along with defensive and economic assistance from Russia and China.

As much as it always seems like the US and Israel will attack the Islamic Republic (which is not Iran, but merely holds it hostage), a simple bombing campaign would have no effect and they know it.

As for a larger ground invasion, I've written here on the reasons why that, too, is a total pipe dream:

Thanks for the constant updates on the happenings in the Middle East, specifically the B-52s. I was amazed, though not surprised, that the US flew two B-52s and F-15s over the Middle East in a show of force. Why does the US need to demonstrate this? Is it because some people might not know that the Americans have the largest military, surpassing the next eight countries combined?

Trump, the president of the US in name only, mentioned that he would like to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Does he think this action is a step toward winning this prestigious award?

If only it was JUST two cruel and unusual punishment clowns. Millions of Jews support this terrorist state. And millions more Goy-ionists.

Now 50 million tons of rubble will only be cleared when BlackRock and BlackStone and Ellison and Adelson say so.
