What I am hearing on the news is that the US is sending very heavy military support to Israel, because (allegedly) Israel is worried about an attack from Iran. So not likely. And if anything was really going to be done about Israel the way I am suggesting above, it would have to be a cooperation among a number of countries, not just something for the US. The US is not the world’s peace-keeper. It is quite the opposite.
Israel wants a big war and has wanted it for a long time. It wants to finish off the Palestinians, and a big war would provide the perfect smokescreen behind which it can finish the genocide of the Palestinian people. The UN definition of genocide is not just about killing. Among its criteria it includes the forced removal of people, and ethnic cleansing.
Israel is counting on the world being corrupt and enabling it, and so far it has not been disappointed. If there is a big war, Israel knows that everything in international politics will be reshuffled, and they hope the Palestinians would be relegated to history and forgotten.
Israel cannot be allowed to fulfil its aims and complete its settler-colonial project. Iran so far has been resisting retaliation over Israel’s numerous attacks on Iranian soil. But I wouldn’t put it past Israel and its allies to start a war anyway by some excuse.
