I am in contact with a young Palestinian female journalist who sent me a video of the tent she is sharing being soaked, and water coming in as they try to build up sand to block it, but nothing can stop it coming through tents that are worn out after two years of constantly being put up and taken down with each displacement. And, bless her, she is worrying about me, and adding me to her prayers, because I've had a virus for three weeks.
I send what I can to her so she can get food, and I know she shares it with her group - but most places us US$ and with their take, I send AUD$62+(to cover their cut) but all she gets is $32.
I'm trying to find an Aussie "fundme" so she gets all of what I send. I already donate monthly to a group that gets the help they can to Gazans, but like others who are trying to help individuals as well, there has to be a way to get more of our donations to them without so much being taken out.
There needs to be an armed escort to force a way into Gaza to get all that food and clothing, and definitely tents or some kind of prefabricated roof and walls to protect the people. Allowing Israel to block humanitarian aid in is disgusting and against the law.
