Hamas's 2024 recruits are now blowing up Israeli troops in Gaza
Despite being 11 months into its genocide against the Palestinian people, Israel has still not been able to subdue the resistance.
On August 18, Hamas released a four-and-a-half-minute video of its fighters attacking Israeli troops on the Netzarim Corridor — which the Israeli forces have built right through the centre of Gaza to bifurcate the strip into two. The video had one stunning detail: one of the fighters involved in the ambush was recruited by Hamas in 2024, that is in the middle of the ongoing genocide!
As far back as February, reports indicated that Hamas had started actively recruiting its fresh batch of fighters. The fruits of those efforts were acknowledged for the first time last week. In an ambush that targeted two Humvees, one of the Hamas fighters says to the camera: “Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades 2024 recruitment. By the Grace of Allah the Almighty the recruitment of 2024 will be a horror for the entity, something unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”
He then adds that the operation was dedicated to the martyred Hamas leader and chief ceasefire negotiator Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated by the Zionists in Tehran earlier this month. “Today, we dedicate the operation to the soul of the martyr Abu Al-Abd Haniyeh and the souls of all the martyrs.”
The video shows a detailed ambush on the Israeli forces present on the Netzarim Corridor south of the Tal Al-Hawa neighbourhood in Gaza City. In the video, one fighter describes the situation: “At the Netzarim axis. There were Jews in front of us, behind us, to our left, to our right, and above us. We still detonated two jeeps and we came back safe and sound.”
A text flash on the screen then describes the action that took place: “A group of four fighters was able to enter the Netzarim axis in which dozens of [Israeli] soldiers are present, and raided an enemy force comprised of two jeeps, detonating two anti-personnel explosives against them, clashing with them, and leaving them dead and wounded. Our fighters withdrew peacefully.”
The video then goes on to show the Qassam fighters monitoring the Israeli troop movement, preparing, and planting Qassam-built explosives before they explode on the passing Humvees. One Humvee appeared to bear the brunt of the blast, while the second appeared relatively unscathed. The fighters then proceeded to fire machine gun rounds at it.
At the end of the operation one fighter says to the camera: “We returned [safely] by the Grace of Allah. By the name of Allah, by the name of Allah, we will do this again. This is a message to Netanyahu: what’s coming is greater.”
The Israeli army admitted to the killing of at least two soldiers, most likely an undercount.
After the operation, Hamas released a memetic warfare poster with the words of the Qassam Brigades’ spokesman Abu Obeida from July 7, 2024, when he declared, “Netzarim will be an axis of death and terror, Allah willing, for the enemy occupying soldiers. The enemy will emerge defeated, as they did before, by the power of Allah Almighty.”
Izzeddine Al-Qassam Brigades, named after the Syrian-born preacher and resistance fighter who was martyred by the British in Palestine in 1935, is the armed wing of Hamas.
The latest operation shows that the Palestinian resistance — of which Hamas is the biggest faction — retains its fighting capabilities and continues to replenish its resources after fighting near non-stop for nearly 11 months. The Israeli leadership, which started its genocidal operation in Gaza, with the fanciful aim of dismantling Hamas, has no military achievements to show for its efforts so far. The Israeli occupation forces have killed over 200,000 civilians with their relentless carpet bombing, however, and have made Gaza unlivable — which many Israeli leaders proudly proclaimed to be their real aim in the aftermath of Palestinian resistance’s Al Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7.
Hamas can bank on recruiting more personnel to its fighting force, considering the Israeli genocide in Gaza has given rise to a whole new acronym unique to the besieged enclave: WCNSF (wounded child, no surviving family). Those people who have lost their everything to Israel’s barbarism will be eager for some payback.
Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant appeared to have a better grasp of reality when he labelled Netanyahu’s ambition of “absolute victory” over Hamas as “gibberish.” The ensuing infighting between the two war criminals saw Netanyahu calling Gallant “anti-Israel.”
Earlier this month, Zionist mouthpiece CNN and two Zionist warmongering think tanks, the American Enterprise Institute and the Institute for the Study of War, which are run by rabid Zionist war pig couple Frederick and Kimberly Kagan, respectively, produced a report on Hamas’s capabilities, asserting that only eight of its 24 battalions were “combat effective,” three were “combat ineffective,” while the remaining 13 battalions were “degraded.”
The Zionist entity, which at the time of its Rafah invasion three months ago, claimed that it entered the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip to dismantle the remaining last four battalions of Hamas, rubbished the CNN report. The Israeli occupation forces said that “the claims made in the article contradict the achievements of the forces on the ground, and create a false representation of the situation of Hamas in Gaza.”
They added: “From the intelligence and findings on the ground, most of the Hamas brigades have been dismantled. It is estimated that most of the battalions are at a low level of competency and can no longer function as a military framework.”
It is safe to say that both western press and the Israeli military are shooting in the dark about the capabilities of the Palestinian resistance. Over the last 11 months, they have frequently revised their assessment of the resistance’s capabilities — including the size of its tunnel network, its weapons manufacturing capabilities, and the size of its troops — multiple times.
The steady stream of resistance operations — attested by videos of those operations — show that the Palestinian resistance continues to be in good shape and, despite their dreams of resettling the Gaza Strip with their fellow Israeli Jews, no Zionist soldier can rest easy on the Gazan soil just yet.
