Gaza pier: The $320 million sadistic American Rube Goldberg machine
Or how to pretend you have a conscience while being an equal partner in genocide.
There are seven crossings in Gaza. The biggest of these crossings is the Rafah crossing, which Gaza shares with Egypt on the enclave’s only non-Israeli land border. The other six are namely the Beit Hanoun (Erez), Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom), al-Muntar (Karni), al-Awdah (Sufa), al-Shujaiah (Nahal Ouz), and Al-Karara (Kissufim) crossings. Each of these crossings is capable of letting through hundreds of trucks laden with aid for the starving population in Gaza every single day with barely any wastage.
The Israelis, however, have made sure that none of these checkpoints are open for aid for the Gazans. While the Rafah crossing was functional until the first few days of the last month, the Israeli invasion and the subsequent closure of the crossing on May 6 severed the last Gazan lifeline and pushed over 2 million people further on the brink of starvation.
The much-needed humanitarian aid, which had already reduced to a trickle after the genocidal Israelis announced a complete halt to the food, water, and fuel for the “Amalek” and the “human animals,” in Gaza in early October last year, has now come to a complete halt. Multiple humanitarian organisations have spoken about the catastrophic situation in in the besieged enclave due to the stoppage of the necessary aid, but it hasn’t made an iota of a difference to the Israeli attitude towards a population it considers subhuman, beneath themselves.
Facing backlash for its unabashed support and funding of the Gaza genocide, the American leadership pretended that it cared for the blockaded Gazans when during his March 8 State of the Union Speech, President Joe Biden declared plans to build a humanitarian pier to facilitate the movement of aid into the enclave via Cyprus. In his speech, the senile American President made clear that there won’t be any American boots on the Gazan ground:
Tonight, I’m directing the U.S. military to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean on the coast of Gaza that can receive large shipments carrying food, water, medicine, and temporary shelters.
No U.S. boots will be on the ground.
A temporary pier will enable a massive increase in the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Gaza every day.
Subsequent reports said that the aid would be inspected by the Israelis in Cyprus before being shipped to the pier, which would take two months to build.
The whole premise of the pier is so grotesque that it defies belief. It’s like telling a starving child that you are going on an expedition to the Antarctic to get him uncontaminated fish while fresh fruits, meat, milk, vegetables, and his favourite chocolates and chips are sitting pretty in the kitchen. Only a raving lunatic who wants the child dead would do such a thing.
While the Americans built their perverted joke of a pier, tons and tons of food stuffed in kilometres-long lines of aid trucks lay rotting at the Rafah crossing. Reuters reported on May 23:
One truck driver, Mahmoud Hussein, said his goods had been loaded on his vehicle for a month, gradually spoiling in the sun. Some of the foodstuffs are being discarded, others sold of cheap.
“Apples, bananas, chicken and cheese, a lot of things have gone rotten, some stuff has been returned and is being sold for a quarter of its price,” he said, crouching under his truck for shade.
“I’m sorry to say that the onions we’re carrying will at best be eaten by animals because of the worms in them.”
A UN official called the pier a useful distraction while there were ready alternatives to provide aid if the Americans really wanted to alleviate the pain of the suffering Palestinians. From a Financial Times report:
“It’s a wasteful distraction,” a senior UN official, who requested anonymity, said of the new pier. “There are roads, there are border crossings — there’s [already] aid waiting outside Gaza.”
Everything about the pier plan sounded nonsensical from the very onset, but when seen in conjunction with the fact that any one of the seven land crossings in Gaza could easily fulfill the purpose of the fanciful pier, it appeared downright farcical and something of a Rube Goldberg machine — complex contraptions that achieve a simple task, such as putting a ball in a basket, through a series of interconnected steps. The sole purpose of such machines is the maker’s enjoyment of their own cleverness.
But the American pier has turned out to be even worse. It has barely been able to provide any aid to the Palestinians at all while it has already been dismantled twice due to its inability to withstand adverse weather conditions.
As late as May 22, by when the pier was already in operation for five days, the Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder was honest enough to admit that the bizarre contraption had not delivered a single packet of aid to the Palestinians:
Even worse, there is credible suspicion that the pier played a part in facilitating the joint Israel-US Nuseirat refugee camp massacre that killed 276 Palestinians — and three Israelis — in a bid to rescue four Israeli prisoners of war.
Since that abhorrent massacre, washed away parts of the pier have been spotted on Israeli ports several times — much to the perverse pleasure of the Zionists, who could barely conceal their glee at the sorry sight of the $320 million of their benefactor’s money floating right in front of them.
Tens of millions of dollars worth of repairs later, it was reinstalled to deliver barely a few dozen aid trucks — only as far as the UN warehouses, not the starving Palestinians — before being dismantled again for the fear of being washed away due to unruly weather.
Who would have thought that a temporary pier couldn’t withstand the pressures of an unruly Mediterranean Sea? Certainly not the Americans — unless drawing sadistic pleasure at the sight of hungry people and at the expense of hundreds of millions of dollars of their taxpayers money was the plan all along.
The Americans organised a propaganda tour of the pier on June 26 for the media. However, even the regime’s propagandists had to admit that while a small fraction of the intended aid had arrived at the beaches of Gaza through the pier, it had not yet reached the hands of the Palestinians.
Since the Americans have encountered absolutely no impediment in delivering billions of dollars worth of weapons to the Israelis to help them blow up the starving Palestinians to smithereens, burn them alive in their ramshackle tents, and behead hungry Gazan babies, their failure to deliver aid shows their true intentions: they want this genocide as much as the Israelis.
So far, the bizarre American pier appears to be a depraved joke that, instead of delivering much-needed aid to the hungry Gazans, has only provided amusement to the satanic Zionists.

I thought it was a insult to Palestinians: everyone knew no aid comes through
on land or sea.
What Israel has done to Gaza will be seen.
The moment we saw the trucks carrying materials for the pier happily trundling along without any interruption, full of Gaza homes in rubble form, still colored and decorated by the blood and bones of their inhabitants, it was apparent to any thinking person that the pier is an evil and twisted joke. ‘We can’t get aid trucks in, but we can totally get these other trucks in, to carry materials for a thing that will definitely bring in aid, yeah, sure, wink wink.’ The fact that we are still talking about these things as if they may have been in good faith is defeating to me.
